The Mission Inn is an historic landmark hotel that takes up an entire city block in the heart of charming downtown Riverside, and is within walking distance of other historic sites, antique shops, specialty boutiques and cultural events. The property started as a small boarding house in 1876, but by the turn of the century as Riverside was starting to attract visitors interested in citrus and the climate, it was expanded to a full size hotel. It has been added onto several times during its heyday in the early 20th century.

The hotel declined during mid-century and then was restored and reopened in 1993. It has hosted presidents, royalty and many celebrities over the years.

The Festival of Lights during the holidays is especially popular. In fact they start accepting reservations for that time period this July 6th. The Mission Inn Museum is also located within the hotel. The nonprofit museum houses artifacts from the history of the inn and Southern California.
