Celebrants wait for the grand opening of the last block in front of City Hall

Still waiting...

Something is about to happen...

The last block of Grand Park officially opens with a burst of fireworks. Eye Spy LA went to the Grand Park Block Party last Saturday to celebrate. I wouldn't exactly characterize this as a party, it was too subdued for that, but I have high hopes for this park becoming the central gathering place for everyone in L.A. that we have so lacked in the past. From the tone of the politicos that were speechifying at the event they do too and there are some interesting events coming up including a Pooch Party this Sunday afternoon.

Grand Park is a big and beautiful 12 acre space that spans four blocks from the Music Center to City Hall. Go Metro now from every corner of the L.A. area and transfer to the Red Line if necessary. Exit at the Civic Center station and you'll be right at the park. I met some gals who rode the Expo Line from Culver City with a little Pomeranian named Dolce Vida (dogs must be in a pet carrier to ride) and they were thrilled that they could now visit downtown so easily.
