A tram takes visitors from the parking at street level up to the museum. In addition to the art housed here, the architecture, gardens and setting, perched above West Los Angeles, are spectacular. If you are fortunate enough to visit on a clear day, you can see from Santa Monica to Long Beach, West L.A. and Century City and beyond to downtown L.A.
HOURS:
Beginning September 9, 2008, the Getty Center will have new hours. We'll be closing at 5:30 p.m. on all open days except Saturday, when we're still open late:
Tuesday–Friday
10:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
Saturday (open late!)
10:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m.
Sunday
10:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
Monday
Closed
Public programs and events such as concerts, lectures, and film screenings will still be held at the Getty Center on Friday evenings, but the galleries will close at 5:30 p.m. Getty Villa hours remain unchanged.
Also, as of September 9, parking will be $10 instead of $8 at both the Getty Center and the Getty Villa. Admission and most events at both sites are still FREE.
Saturday Nights at the Getty is a free, contemporary performance series featuring an eclectic mix of music, dance, theater, and spoken word events.
