CELEBRATES 14TH SEASON TRADITION AS FAVORITE HOLIDAY HAPPENING
Time for your Yuletide glide this holiday season at the 14th Annual DOWNTOWN ON ICE outdoor skating rink where the coolest fun gets underway on LA’s biggest outdoor rink with the smallest admission price of just $6 and $2 for skate rental. A medley of FREE community events keep you in the holiday spirit with the Winter Holiday Festival (with Santa and his “live” reindeer, snow, and make & take crafts), the “12 Nights of Christmas” concert series, Menorah Lighting, Kwanzaa Celebration, “It’s Christmas, Snoopy” showcase, and more.
Skate under the sun and stars at picturesque Pershing Square, 532 South Olive-- open everyday (including holidays) November 17, 2011 through January 16, 2012. The rink is made possible by the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, and Councilmember Jan Perry (9th District).
Centrally located in the heart of the City of Angels at the Pershing Square Metro stop, the rink is easily accessible by car, bus or Metro. A partnership with Metro and Montebello bus lines allows riders to receive a $1 discount on skating sessions. Underground parking is discounted with validation. Pershing Square morphs into the ultimate winter wonderland. Join Santa with his “live” reindeer, frolic in real snow, enjoy a train ride, make & take children’s crafts, community youth performances, memento photos, strolling performers, and more. Santa’s emporium features stocking stuffers and tasty holiday treats for purchase.
Rock Around the Rink
Friday-Saturday, December 16 and 17, 2011 at 8:00pm
Free live concert performance by Bella Donna, a popular Stevie Nicks tribute band and Led Zepagain, A Tribute to Led Zeppelin will rock out the rink on Friday and Saturday night. Get free ice skating tickets for these concerts by checking sponsor 100.3 The Sound's web site.
Menorah Lighting, Hanukkah Celebration

Traditional ceremony with Rabbi includes bottle dancing and dreidel fun.

Cultural holiday celebrating “first fruits” – children, family, and community with a special dance/entertainment presentation by members of the Lula Washington Contemporary Dance Foundation.
