“Crackling good entertainment” - Variety

A taut and plot-twisting story of political, emotional, and sexual intrigue by Beau Willimon, creator of Netflix's House of Cards. During a hotly contested presidential primary campaign a wunderkind press secretary, blinded by hubris, makes a wrong turn. After choosing to walk through “that door” his life and the lives of others spin out of control. Set against an all too familiar contemporary landscape, the story reveals the human struggle between ideologies and unbridled ambition.

"It’s exactly this kind of 'edge of your seat’ theatre that I find stimulating to work on as a director. This is a story of back-room politics with smart, charismatic people caught up in a rapid-fire life while trying to make a meaningful impact on the entire country, and yet not always making smart choices. It speaks to all of us, seeing how this survivalist self-interest not only impacts each character, but how it can effect the outcome of elections,” says director Cathy F. Linder

Playwright Beau Willimon served as showrunner for the first four seasons of his Netflix series House of Cards. He received an Outer Critics Circle nomination for the John Gasner Award, and at Julliard Playwrights Program Beau garnered both the Lila Acheson Wallace Fellowship and the Lincoln Center Le Compte du Nuoy Award. Other plays include Lower Ninth, Zusammenbruch, Spirit Control, The Parisian Womanand, and Breathing Time. Additional works by Beau have been developed and performed by MCC Theater, Ars Nova, HERE Arts Center, Cherry Lane Theatre, Battersea Arts Centre in London, and South Coast Rep. Beau wrote the script for The Ides of March, based on Farragut North, which starred George Clooney, Ryan Gosling, Evan Rachel Wood, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti, Marisa Tomei, and Jeffrey Wright.

“The play is not about the issues of a political campaign, but rather the gamesmanship of the campaign and how that affects the characters’ choices and the sacrifices they’re willing to make morally in order to win,” explains Willimon

Director Cathy Fitzpatrick Linder oversaw two years of work for HBO’s New Writer's Festival. In Los Angeles, her directing credits include Picasso at the Lapin Agile and Shaw's How He Lied to Her Husband. Selected directing credits on the East coast are Light Up the Sky, Picasso at the Lapin Agile, and Romantic Comedy, at the Ridgefield Theater in Connecticut. At HBO Cathy oversaw the production of their original movies and series.

This production stars Jennifer Cannon, Adam Faison, Margaret Fegan, Geoffrey Lower, Francisco J. Rodriguez, Jack Tynan, and Andy Umberger

Designers include Pete Hickok (Set Design), Kelley Finn (Lighting Design), Chris Moscatiello (Sound Design), Mylette Nora (Costumes), and Michael Donovan (Casting)

Farragut North opens at 8pm on April 15th and runs 8pm Fridays and Saturdays, 2pm Sundays through May 21, 2017 (no performance on Sunday, April 16th). The Odyssey Theatre is located at 2055 South Sepulveda Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90025. Tickets are $30. Tickets at https://www.plays411.com/newsite/show/play_info.asp?show_id=4614 or call (323) 960-7788. Parking available onsite for a fee or free street parking.
