“From the Abundant Pharmacy: Traditional Chinese Medicine in Los Angeles’ Chinatown”

The second installment in The California Endowment’s Center for Healthy Communities’ exhibition series on folk medicine in urban settings, From the Abundant Pharmacy explores the role of traditional Chinese medicine in the creation and recreation of Los Angeles’ Chinese communities. The exhibition features historical and contemporary photographs, video documentation of selected stores and herbalists, as well as artifacts, products and archival material.

The Chinese American Museum and The Chinese Historical Society of Southern California are organizing partners in this event. The Center for Healthy Communities builds leadership and capacity within the non-profit health sector to mobilize communities for social change. For more information, visit: www.calendow.org. Community Opening: Saturday, October 13, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. as part of The California Endowment’s annual Healthy Neighborhood Festival.
