Lauded as the king of wines, Barolo is produced with 100% Nebbiolo grapes, a prized varietal grown in certified areas in the northern region of Piemonte. Across the world, the complex red wine is renowned for its bold flavors and graceful aging. Renowned producer of Barolo, Fontanafredda has been noble since the start. The winery was founded in 1858 by Count Emanuele Alberto di Mirafiori on the hunting grounds of his father, King Vittorio Emanuele II. More than 150 years later, the estate continues to produce wines of the highest caliber, thanks to the respect of the land, passion for vinicultural tradition, and use of innovative technology. Today, Fontanafredda remains one of the most well-known Barolo producers and celebrates its 160th Anniversary and also recognition as “European Winery of the Year!” Join us at La Scuola with Export Manager of Fontanafredda, Alberto Frea for this Barolo Master class as we celebrate the heritage — and robust flavor — of the noble wine with a wide tasting of their varied barolo! In this class, guests will:
Learn about the history of the Fontanafredda winery with Export Manager, Alberto Frea.
Discover the wine of Barolo and its distinct characteristics.
Taste through a variety of Barolo wines of Fontanafredda guided by Alberto Frea.
Enjoy a three-course Piemontese meal prepared by Chef Denis to complement the tasting of Barolo wines.
