Historic Southwest Museum Mt. Washington Campus

Saturday, November 10th

10:30am-12:30pm
Paper Flower Headdresses with Margarita Medina
Paper flowers play a large role in Mexican folk art, and are easily distinguished from other paper flowers because of their vibrant colors and meticulous craftsmanship. The flowers come in a variety of types and sizes, each with its own story and symbolism. Mexican paper flowers, which are made out of crepe and tissue paper, represent the soul and culture of the artists who craft them. Drop by the Courtyard and create your special headdress.

2:00pm-4:00pm
Join us as local poets Gloria E. Alvarez, Ron Baca, Zoe Blaq, and Linda Kaye read from their body of work. An Open Mic will follow the performance. So come early to sign up!!! Hope to see you there!!!

FREE and open to the public!

These events are part of a month-long series of events for Remembrance, the Faces & Places - which builds on a community theme reminding us to love and honor those who have left the world better than when they entered it.

Twenty artists have created altars in the niche spaces along both sides of the buildings’ famed portal tunnel, while a second group of artists are displaying wall art upstairs in Sprague Hall.

This activity takes place at the Autry's Historic Southwest Museum Mt. Washington Campus, located at 234 Museum Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90065.
