History of Recorded Sound (HRS) is excited to announce their event for Record Store Day 2018!

It will take place on Saturday, April 21st and Sunday, April 22nd from noon to 5pm

History of Recorded Sound
8517 Washington Blvd,
Culver City, CA 90232

If you've ever wanted to see how records are made, learn more about the history of audio technology, hear great music, connect with local musicians, and experience a rare live direct-to-disc recording on a historic 1940s Scully lathe, this is the event for you.

Enjoy a full day of live music and tour our facility of historical and vintage and customized audio gear of jukeboxes, speakers, pre-amps, analog tape machines and record players.

The event is FREE! Apollo Masters Audiodiscs and NiPro Records have sponsored the event so local musicians can participate in a live direct-to-disc recording and take home their very own stereo high-fidelity record. If you are a musician and would like sign up for a 30-45 minute session, please call (310)-204-4911 or email hrsrecords@gmail.com to book a time. (Sessions are limited.)

What is direct-to-disc recording? Direct-to-disc recording is a recording technique primarily used before the 1950s where a live sound recording is made by cutting directly into an analog master disc which are optimized for vinyl records. HRS is one of the few studios in the world now who are still able to provide this recording method.

NOTE: It is always a good idea to verify date, time, location and other information prior to going.
