L.A.-based Saban Community Clinic Offers Vaccines Just in Time for Start of School

Kids and adults can get vaccinations to avoid preventable illness, meet school requirements

WHAT:
Just before the start of the Los Angeles Unified School District’s opening day, Saban Community Clinic will offer vaccines for anyone who enrolls in the clinic. Both children and their families are eligible for the vaccines, while supplies last.

WHY:
LAUSD requires all students to show proof of vaccines before attending school. School starts on August 14 throughout Los Angeles. However, many low income or uninsured families struggle to meet the public school requirements to show proof of vaccinations (which can cost upwards of $1,200) before the first day of school.

In the wake of the July death of a child from whooping cough in San Bernardino, it is more important than ever that children, and their entire family, get vaccinated to help protect against preventable illnesses. Vaccines don’t just save lives; they also prevent poverty by avoiding sudden unexpected healthcare expenses like those that push nearly 100 million people into poverty every year.

HOW:
Families can simply come and enroll in the Saban Community Clinic to be eligible for vaccines. Appointments with a pediatrician also can be made for a full physical check-up.

WHEN:
August 13, 2018 from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. PST

WHERE:
Saban Community Clinic – The Wallis Annenberg Children & Family Health Center
5205 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles, Calif., 90038
(Parking is available on the street.)

About Saban Community Clinic:
As a Federally Qualified Health Center, Saban Community Clinic supports more than 114,000 visits from low-income and uninsured men, women, and children each year. Our three health centers, located in the Los Angeles and West Hollywood areas, provide affordable access to quality medical, dental and behavioral health services.
