The Nethercutt Collection welcomes Walt Strony, one of America’s premiere concert organists, to their newly remodeled music room for a couple memorable nights of harmony on Friday, November 15th and Saturday, November 16th. The highly-anticipated concert will be performed on the one-of-a-kind 5,000-piped Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Organ, which was originally designed by Robert Hope-Jones as a "one man orchestra" to accompany silent movies. Strony will perform classics such as a medley from Phantom of the Opera, Mamma Mia and other popular Abba songs, as well as Charles Ives variations on America.
This event is free of charge, but reservations must be made by calling 1-818-364-6464. Tickets will become available on October 16th, and four tickets per household will be allotted. Voicemail, email and fax reservations will not be accepted.
Additional upcoming musical event dates at The Nethercutt Collection include:
• December 6th & 7th: Christmas Organ Concert with Jelani Eddington
• December 13th & 14th: Christmas Organ Concert with Rob Richards and Alex Zsolt
More information can be found on the Nethercutt Collection Calendar: https://www.nethercuttcollection.org
The Music Room at The Nethercutt Collection displays a world-class collection of automated mechanical instruments including reproducing pianos, nickelodeons, cylinder & disc music boxes, orchestrions musical repeat striking watches, and Swiss bird boxes. These exceptional offerings culminate with demonstrations of select orchestrations and the world-renowned 5,000-piped Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Organ.
The only living organist to have been twice voted "Organist of the Year" by the American Theatre Organ Society, Walt Strony is a well-rounded musician who brings a wealth of experience to any organ console, particularly the Nethercutt Collection’s world-famous 5,000-piped Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Organ. He made his public debut in 1974 at the age of 18 and has since established himself as one of few organists equally at home playing both theatre and classical organ. Strony has performed hundreds of concerts from coast to coast in the United States, as well as internationally. In addition to his fine reputation as a concert organist, Strony is well known for his many recordings. His first CD "Phoenix" was rated 10/10 by CD Review -- the highest rating given by this prestigious publication, and he has since produced 30 more albums. In 2011, he was inducted into the American Theatre Organ Society “Hall of Fame,” and is widely reputed to be one of America's most original and interesting sounding concert organists.
