The 18th Annual Elvis Festival returns to Historic Main Street in Garden Grove for an all-day tribute to Elvis Presley on Sunday, August 27 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. This year’s event also honors the 40th anniversary of Presley’s death which was August 16, 1977.
The Festival, presented by the Garden Grove Downtown Business Association and the only event of its kind in California, will feature several performances by local Elvis tribute artists including Kirk Wall of Anaheim, the event’s longstanding ambassador; the King of Cadillacs Car Show for passenger cars dating 1977 and earlier; KaraokeFest’s Crème de la King Finals in which the top 12 finalists selected from previous qualifying rounds perform to vie for the winning spot along with cash awards and prizes.
Other performances will include Scot Bruce and his band doing “A Rockin’ Tribute to the King” with songs from Sun Records to the ’68 Comeback Special and Martin Anthony in a special set of “Duets with Elvis” featuring legends impressionist Danny Jacobson as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Ray Charles and several others and Kat Ferguson as Ann Margret.
Wall’s band Krazy Kirk and the Hillbillies, regulars at Knott’s Berry Farm, will have Elvis singing bluegrass, gospel, the Beatles hits and a variety of other styles.
Other activities include an Elvis themed art contest and show at Black Umbrella Tattoo and Art Gallery, stilt walking Elvis and Priscilla, Abbit the Average Elvis, Elvis Fan Clubs: The Jailhouse Rockers of California and Blue Suede Shoes of California, Elvis memorabilia and collectibles, special Elvis food items along with the variety of restaurants and shops on Main Street.
Admission and parking are free.
The Festival on Historic Main Street is located between Garden Grove Blvd. and Acacia Parkway in Garden Grove and is held in conjunction with the Local Harvest Farmers Market, which runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Use the address of 12911 Main Street, Garden Grove on GPS or other map/directions locators.
