The Eclectic, South Pasadena’s Music Festival and Art Walk, returns for its ninth year on Saturday, May 6 with Grammy-winning band OZOMATLI headlining. The band will open the festival at 3 p.m. on the Gold Line Stage under their OZOKIDZ formation, playing original children’s music, and will close the event as the main-stage headliners playing songs from their upcoming album Nonstop: Mexico → Jamaica, due May 5.
Other musical acts taking part include indie rock band THORCRAFT COBRA, which released the critically acclaimed album The Distance in January, rock veteran TONY GILKYSON formerly of X and Lone Justice, local favorites SHELBY GOGREVE & TAYLOR PLENN and more.
“We are so excited to celebrate The Eclectic’s 9th anniversary and are thrilled at the diversity of this year’s lineup,” said Laurie Wheeler, president of the South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce. “South Pasadena is a multicultural community that supports the arts in every form. We have had the privilege of supporting a variety of truly eclectic artists throughout the years and this year’s lineup allows us to bring Ozomatli and their incredible music to the community while introducing our favorite emerging artists like Thorcraft Cobra, Shelby Gogreve and Taylor Plenn, to a wider audience. We hope that everyone who joins us is able to check out the five main stages, several other participating music venues, our artists and galleries, our food and drink vendors, as well as discovering everything that the heart of South Pasadena has to offer. As always, The Eclectic is free and open to the public. We encourage everyone to take the Metro Gold Line and join us for a fun, family-friendly day. Most everything is within walking distance.”
In addition to the five main stages (Gold Line, Eclectic, Carnegie, Emerging, SPARC), musical acts will also take over a variety of venues throughout the city, including Crossings, Griffins of Kinsale, Grassroots Natural Market, Canoe House, Craft Hill, Old Focals, South Pasadena Theatre Workshop, Mix N’ Munch, and the South Pasadena Music Center & Conservatory. Other bands may be confirmed closer to event date, so please check the festival website (www.TheEclectic.Rocks) for the latest updates. The Eclectic is accessible via public transportation – just take the Metro Gold Line to the South Pasadena Station or Metro Bus Lines 260 or 176. There is plenty of free street and public parking available, too. With unforgettable performances, a variety of shops, restaurants, artisans and vendors, The Eclectic is a can’t-miss tradition for music and art enthusiasts in Los Angeles and the San Gabriel Valley.
The Eclectic is produced by the South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce in partnership with DeepMix Entertainment and the City of South Pasadena, and is supported by Eclectic Friends of the Arts, a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization. Donations to The Eclectic Friends of the Arts in South Pasadena keep admission to the festival free.
