A bustling European-style Farmer’s Market featuring organic, non-organic and exotic produce, flowers and herbs is coming to Downtown Pomona. Every Wednesday on South Thomas Street, 1 block west of Garey between 3rd and 4th streets from 4:00PM-8:00PM, beginning March 8, 2006.
Mere paved surfaces spring alive with the abundant sights, sounds, smells and colors of the open-air produce market. The stands will be brimming with top-grade goods: exotic greens, brightly colored veggies, fresh baked breads, gigantic fruits and fresh-cut flowers.
Small-scale, quality-obsessed, local, family farmers working the market go to great lengths to produce the purest heirloom tomatoes and the tastiest Asian pears, among numerous organic specialties. Wonderful aromas tip shoppers off to the high-quality standards.
Jerry Tessier, the President of the Downtown Pomona Owner’s Association states, “This is where locals will find the best-tasting produce available.”
Every second Wednesday there will be a classic car show with a live D.J. spinning the freshest tunes while the cars are spinning their wheels. Beautiful and unique vehicles will be displayed on the corner of Thomas and 3rd Street and six lucky cars will win a “Best in Class” plaque and gift certificates sponsored by the Thomas Street Merchants Association. The Vice President of the Pomona Central Business District, Jorge Alvarez-Dichos states; “I think having the antique cars is a wonderful mix with the antique buildings in the Downtown.”
The Farmers’ Market is collaboration between Farm Fresh Markets, Pomona Central Business District (CBD) and the Downtown Pomona Owner’s Association (DPOA).
