Until 2007, when LAGFF was launched, there was virtually no Greek presence in Hollywood...
Our primary goal was and is to represent Greek cinema, culture and the new generation of Greek filmmakers from Greece, Cyprus and around the world in the creative capital of the world and to build a bridge of opportunity.
We also seek to cultivate a two-way education; so that Americans may gain a sense of the new Greek artistic visions, and may be exposed to cinematic gems which would not otherwise be accessible to them; and so that Greek filmmakers may have the opportunity to meet and network with American industry profes- sionals, observe and learn about the creative processes and structures of the American film industry.
We diligently encourage and promote cross-cultural communication and collaboration so that ideas, creative initiatives and professional opportunities are greatly nurtured while barriers are broken. We seek to promote and facilitate co-productions between Greek and US Production Companies.
LAGFF’s fundamental purpose of existence is to raise awareness of the modern Greek culture in Los Angeles and Southern California, while always drawing upon and underlining the inexhaustible wealth of the Hellenic heritage - Promoting, nurturing and expanding Greek culture in the US and all over the world. www.lagff.org
