Latin Grammy nominated Rogê represents the new generation of artists of the Brazilian Popular Music movement. He plays a groovy kind of samba and moves effortlessly from bossa nova to samba and reggae with the ease of a prolific composer. He has released six albums ('Rogê' in 2003, 'Brasil em Brasa' in 2008, 'Fala Geral' in 2010, 'Brenguele', 2012, 'Baile do Brenguele' in 2014 and 'Nomade' in 2018) and 2 side projects (‘4 Cabeça’, that got a Brazilian Music Award as best album; and ‘NA VEIA’, aside Arlindo Cruz, leading them to a Latin Grammy nomination as best samba album).
Pretinho da Serrinha has become the most requested musician of the new samba generation because of his unique, talented way of playing percussion and cavaco (the Brazilian ukulele). Most of the greatest Brazilian artists want Pretinho to be playing, recording, touring with them – the list has names like Caetano Veloso, Chico Buarque, Gilberto Gil, Marisa Monte, Seu Jorge, Sergio Mendes – and he’s also being asked to produce albums very often lately, which gave him a Latin Grammy Nomination in 2018.
Music, rhythm and groove are natural for this carioca who started his his music career pretty early: at the age of 10, he was already in charge of a huge drum session for Imperio Serrano, a traditional samba school in Rio de Janeiro; since the age of 13 music has been his main job. Born and raised in the poor favela of "Morro da Serrinha", it was music that kept that skinny little boy away from bad choices; he was always surrounded by percussion instruments and drum sessions. Recently Pretinho released his very first solo album named ‘O Som de Madureira’, with many original compositions, and has been very well received.
