Communications Toolbox: The Art of Resolving Conflicts Creatively
With Carole Helfert Aragon & Rebecca Ruschell
THIS EVENT IS FREE
Conflict is part of everyday life -- both professionally and personally. How we respond to, and manage conflict, both internally and externally, will often determine how well we function in our personal, professional, and creative lives. In this interactive workshop, you will learn about, and work with, a robust combination of negotiation, de-escalation and communication tools and techniques. The goal is to help provide a platform for more effective and creative methods to resolve a broad variety of disagreements, misunderstandings, and conflicts.
Carole Helfert Aragon, J.D., LL.M., earned her LL.M. in Dispute Resolution, with a Specialty in Mediation, from the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution, Pepperdine University School of Law in 2015. She joined the FINRA Roster of Mediators in 2015, became a FINRA Arbitrator in 2010, and has an integrated background as a licensed attorney (State Bar of California, 1975, active), a full-time financial disputes mediator (2009), and was a licensed Financial Advisor, Retirement Planning Specialist, Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (1998- 2002).
Rebecca Ruschell is the Associate Director for the Los Angeles office of California Lawyers for the Arts and the Program Director for the Arts Arbitration and Mediation Services program. She is an attorney who received her Juris Doctor from the University of Cincinnati School of Law where she was a Senior Articles Editor for the Human Rights Quarterly with the Urban Morgan Institute for Human Rights and holds a certificate from the International Institute of Human Rights in Strasbourg, France. Ms. Ruschell is a certified mediator from the Center for Dispute Resolution and a member of the Southern California Mediation Association. She is the founder of a small business in the dance industry space and holds a US patent for one of her products. Ms. Ruschell is an artist as well and a former volunteer with CLA in the Arts Arbitration and Mediation Services program.
