Academy Award winner Alexander Dinelaris (BIRDMAN), and Broadway playwright (ON YOUR FEET), examines the causal link between ethics and success, life and death, art and redemption. How do we endure loss and rediscover the will to make something of our lives?
Living at an emotional crossroads, with her career on the rise, Carrie Ann is a celebrated photographer scrambling to reconnect with her passion for the work. An unexpected inspiration arrives in the form of a trend analyst who becomes determined to help her move forward, even while facing his own uncertain future.
"I am a true agnostic, in that I am not certain of what my existence was before the moment I was born, and I don’t know what it will be after the moment I die. Like the characters in STILL LIFE we are all trying to figure it all out, trying to learn as best we can how we can go on. This, for me, is one of the reasons why I do theatre, and particularly a play like STILL LIFE” - Michael Peretzian; Director
Alexander Dinelaris is a playwright whose work Red Dog Howls was nominated for several Los Angeles Ovation Awards, including Best Actress in a Play; Kathleen Chalfant. He won an Oscar for co-writing the film Birdman, and his current project On Your Feet, is now running on Broadway. Other works include Folding the Monster, The Chaos Theories (dir. Alison Fraser), Big Kids, Pathetique, and American Rapture. Alex was nominated for two Drama Desk Awards for his work on the additional book and lyrics for Zanna Don’t, and he collaborated with Academy Award winning director Alejandro Gonzales-Innaritu on The One Percent, with Ed Harris and Hilary Swank, for Starz.
Director Michael Peretzian helmed Rogue Machine’s production of Christopher Shinn’s Dying City, which won the Ovation Award for Best Production (five Ovation Award nominations). He has directed numerous projects locally, including the Mark Taper Forum’s West Coast premiere of Jane Martin’s Talking With and Truman Capote’s One Christmas and A Christmas Memory, broadcast for many years on KCRW and subsequently re-staged at Pacific Resident Theatre. For his work with Theatre 40 Hugh Leonard’s A Life, Michael received a Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Direction. He directed the world premiere of Alex Dinelaris’ Red Dog Howls starring Kathleen Chalfant, his production of Harold Pinter’s No Man’s Land at the Odyssey Ensemble was nominated as one of the Best Productions of 2009 by the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle.
