Vera's Heartbeat proudly presents:
A celebration for the Brazilian guitar with ROGÊ feat. Pretinho da Serrinha and special guests!!.

Inspired by masters like Baden Powell, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Dorival Caymmi, and Noel Rosa, Rogê presents the roots of the Brazilian music and its connection to Africa in an unplugged set, featuring Brazilian percussion master Pretinho da Serrinha and other special guests. The drums, alongside the guitar and vocals, will take the audience on spiritual journey through Brazilian Afro-culture infused with jazz. It is the essence of Brazil, a combination of jongo, samba, afoxe and maculele, showing the universal strength of this local culture.

Latin Grammy nominated Rogê represents the new generation of artists of the Brazilian Popular Music movement. He plays a groovy kind of samba and moves effortlessly from bossa nova to samba and reggae with the ease of a prolific composer. He has released six albums ('Rogê' in 2003, 'Brasil em Brasa' in 2008, 'Fala Geral' in 2010, 'Brenguele', 2012, 'Baile do Brenguele' in 2014 and 'Nomade' in 2018) and 2 side projects (‘4 Cabeça’, that got a Brazilian Music Award as best album; and ‘NA VEIA’, aside Arlindo Cruz, leading them to a Latin Grammy nomination as best samba album).

Pretinho da Serrinha has become the most requested musician of the new samba generation because of his unique, talented way of playing percussion and cavaco (the Brazilian ukulele). Most of the greatest Brazilian artists want Pretinho to be playing, recording, touring with them – the list has names like Caetano Veloso, Chico Buarque, Gilberto Gil, Marisa Monte, Seu Jorge, Sergio Mendes – and he’s also being asked to produce albums very often lately, which gave him a Latin Grammy Nomination in 2018.

Music, rhythm and groove are natural for this carioca who started his his music career pretty early: at the age of 10, he was already in charge of a huge drum session for Imperio Serrano, a traditional samba school in Rio de Janeiro; since the age of 13 music has been his main job. Born and raised in the poor favela of "Morro da Serrinha", it was music that kept that skinny little boy away from bad choices; he was always surrounded by percussion instruments and drum sessions. Recently Pretinho released his very first solo album named ‘O Som de Madureira’, with many original compositions, and has been very well received.

Special Guests:

Artyom Manukyan
Artyom is a musician known for playing jazz cello and electric bass. He was born in Armenia, where he began his study of music. Artyom played bass and cello in the popular Armenian Navy Band, and played at international jazz festivals. Also, a fan of live hip-hop music, Artyom has performed with nearly every big pop and jazz star in Armenia. Since his moving to Los Angeles in 2010, Artyom has been in demand as a session musician and soundtrack composer. He has also continued to perform live with talented musicians, including Grammy-winning artist, Draco Rosa, the rapper, Everlast, and jazz saxophonist, Kamasi Washington. He has recently worked on a project with Dawatile Kiledjian, titled HILA, that fuses Jazz and beat music together. In 2015, he successfully released his debut jazz solo album, Citizen, and plans to release another album this year, Not Alone.

Ill Camille: the self proclaimed "Jane-of-all-trades" is focused and determined to make her mark amongst the who's who of the music scene, male and female alike. With a deep rooted family background of music, and a natural knack for competition, this EMCEE is prepared to combine all the elements of her experience to provide listeners with a well rounded product minus the "sex sells approach". She has captured the attention and worked with a host of other industry notables such as Frank Nitt , Damani, Coniyac, School Boy Q producer Dae One, Dj Battlecat, Dj Trackstar, and Terrace Martin.
