Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts spotlights the extraordinary artistry of Jorge Federico Osorio, who makes his Los Angeles recital debut with a program of Bach, Schubert, Liszt, Debussy, Albéniz, Ricardo Castro and Manuel Ponce, one night only on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 7:30 pm. The solo recital, held in The Wallis’ esteemed Bram Goldsmith Theater, includes two Chorale Preludes by Bach, Schubert’s Sonata in A Major, Liszt’s Vallé d’Obermann and three Preludes by Debussy. Osorio, a native of Mexico, also performs works by three Hispanic composers – Isaac Albéniz’s Mallorca (Barcarola), Ricardo Castro’s Barcarola, and Manuel Ponce’s Rapsodia Cubana and Balada Mexicana.

Hailed as “one of the more elegant and accomplished pianists on the planet” (Los Angeles Times), Osorio is often noted for his superb musicianship, powerful technique, vibrant imagination and deep passion and has garnered an array of international awards, including the prestigious Medalla Bellas Artes, the highest honor granted by Mexico’s National Institute of Fine Arts. He has performed with many of the world’s leading orchestras and his concert tours have taken him to Asia, North, Central and South America, and Europe.

A free pre-concert “Prelude” at 6:30 pm, which includes a complimentary glass of wine provided by The Henry Wine Group, features KUSC’s Brian Lauritzen in conversation about the evening’s program with Los Angeles pianist and pedagogue Ory Shihor, along with his gifted students Gabriella Prisca Handoko and Sally Yapto from Shihor’s Piano Talent Performance Academy.

Single tickets are $45-$95. Visit TheWallis.org, call 310.746.4000, or stop by in person at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts Ticket Services Office located at 9390 N. Santa Monica Blvd., Beverly Hills, CA 90210.
