About Ice at Santa Monica
Since 2006, Ice at Santa Monica has been the Westside’s premier outdoor ice skating rink. Each year, nearly 60,000 skaters enjoy the rink’s festive ambiance which includes twinkling lights, evergreens and holiday décor.
The beloved rink is comprised of 475 tons of gravel, 25 tons of sand, wood framing and metal railings, plexiglass dasher boards and roughly 4,600 square feet of 1/4 inch piping where roughly 1,500 gallons of chilled food-grade glycol is pumped through to help freeze water to make ice. Water to create the ice is pulled from the city’s supply of urban runoff that is treated before use. Power is drawn from the city’s electricity grid, which is supplied by 100 percent renewable energy sources.
Skate rental and all-day admission is $15, and locker rentals are $5. Ice at Santa Monica will be open through January 21, 2019.
