To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Rangoli Foundation, the Rangoli Dance Company (RDC) presents traditional Bharatanatyam dances and the premiere of a new work ‘Shivaya’ by RDC creator and choreographer Malathi Iyengar.
'Shivaya' pays tribute to the five elements, sacred five syllables and the sound, stillness and movement of the universe. Recorded music was composed and arranged by master Indian musician Rajkumar Bharathi. The evening's Rangoli finale, features a commissioned musical score by celebrated violinist Embar Kannan.
The dance concert Shivaya will feature a unique artistic environment created by lighting designer Eileen Cooley, costume designer Lakshmi Iyengar and set designer Suresh Iyengar.
