Rebecca Rees, long time Glendale (Adams Hill) resident and community activist, will present her first one-woman art exhibition, Seijaku: Serenity in the Midst of Madness at Gallery 839 \ The Animation Guild in Burbank. The opening reception is Friday, March 3, 2017, 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm and the exhibition will be on view through April 3, 2017.

The Exhibit focuses on finding real meaning, fulfillment, energy and wisdom while in the thick of everyday hustle and bustle. This theme is especially prevalent in today’s turbulent and hostile political climate. Rees says, “Being able to build a silent and impervious center in the midst of chaos is pertinent to our creative wellness.”

Rebecca Rees worked in the animation industry, mostly for Disney Features, for twenty years before turning her attention to her own original creations.

Rees explains, “With Seijaku as my guide, I’ve been able to create the 50 works that you see in my show. They weren’t conjured with soft spa music playing in the background of a studio bathed in the perfect northern light. They were born in the process of real life: politics, demonstrations, family issues, flu bouts, emergencies and while caring for my mother who was stricken with cancer”.

Lyn Mantta, Gallery 839 Manager says, “We are pleased to have Rebecca exhibit her unique artwork here at Gallery 839. Her strong theme parallels with our countries current events. The opening reception, March 3 - 6:00 to 9:00pm, is one that you won’t want to miss”

Rees sees this exhibit as a first of more to come and won’t let life’s distractions get in her way. “If we wait until the time is perfect to be where we need to be and do what we need to do…we will never move an inch. Seijaku is in all of us. Find your center no matter where you are”.
