California poppy season is March through May. Best bloom viewing is generally in mid April. The visitor center opens in March and closes at the end of the poppy season, but the park is open year round. Parking fees during wildflower season are $8. The reserve is located 15 miles west of Highway 14 (exit Avenue I) near the city of Lancaster. The visitor center is located on Lancaster Road. You can also get there by heading North on Interstate 5 to Highway 138 and head west (follow signs to reserve).
